Creamy New Brush: Sketches
Trying to get more loose sketching into my day... Here are a number of random sketches from today that I did after falling in love with a brush on the current ImagineFX disc.

Time Warriors 2: Final Cover
I apparently forgot to update both my site and this blog with the final version of the Time Warriors: Expansion cover, something I will remedy now:
Today I also started work on the thumbnails for the Time Warriors: Induction (TW1) cover. The selected scene takes place against the backdrop of the fabled city of Atlantis, where our heroes are battling a giant water snake.

Fox Pirates and Post 80
My 80th post wow! It's been practically a month since I last posted too... er. What can I say? I've been super busy with a variety of projects. Below is the progress for one I'm currently working on. Besides other people's stuff, I'm again stirring the waters of the River of Dreams. I'd like to have it in submittable from for the Red Cygnet Press contest (ie December 31).

Celtic Music and ConceptArt.Org Workshops
Wow, after watching THIS video I really want to attend a Massive Black Workshop. Seattle Washington this December, too bad it beat out DC...
So I worked on thumbnails for the current book cover this morning. I worked on one of my own picture book illustrations this afternoon. I also got an e-mail about another cover from a different publisher. Right up my alley too. I'm psyched!
Oh yes, and I must mention a wickedly cool CD that arrived in the mail today. It's called Window to a World by Aeone. She's sort of a crossover artist, part pop, part cetlic, part bluegrass, a very world feel. I love it. I'm jammin' to it even now. Speaking of celtic, I watched a really lovely live concert recorded at Slane Castle by Celtic Woman last night (courtesy netflix ;). Great stuff.

Today I did the thumbnail sketches for the next book cover project I'll be working on!

Sweet Progress
My next cover commission is still in progress (being edited) so I've had a bit more down time than I expected. So I decided to use my time "wisely" and work on my picture book idea.
I now have a (roughly) 2,000 word story (hopefully, I can further tighten and shorten in the next revision).
On the illustration side. I made a series of tiny thumbnails so sloppy that only I could decipher them in my sketchbook (with a real pen, no less!)
For the past week I've been working to make these into more readable roughs, and also to work out a potential layout. I really like the idea of using mostly spreads, with the first and last images being single-side images.
Here is what I've come up with so-far:
