Going Going

It's slightly frustrating working so long on art I won't be able to show ya'll for a good year. But I am enjoying it all the same. :) After a year and a half, this is really starting to feel like a full-time job.

Things are still coming along with the picture book dummy too. I just got all of the shipping supplies via the men in brown today. I'm still awaiting the order of printed spiral-bound dummies and need to get all the the shipping labels and cover letters / query letters filled out and saved.

In other random news, I just bought Casey Stratton's newest CD called Orbit and I am really enjoying it. At the moment I am obsessed with "Your Ghost Passing By."

Turbulent Clouds

I've been busy with business. I made an appointment to meet with a councilor at the Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center. I hope to get some recommendations on tax/accounting issues as well as applicable laws for my freelance business. I also went ahead and ordered a bunch of new equipment for my desk redesign in progress, including a nicely priced OEM bundle of the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and Microsoft 3000 Comfort Mouse, black gel-pads for my chair's arm rests, and sliders for the desk. I also canceled the Amazon order for that Skype Polycom Communicator (as it has been 5 days and it was still not shipped) and placed an order with PC Nation instead. With 3-Day FedEx shipping they are still $2.00 cheaper, and I get the feeling I might actually get the item.

The current illustration is moving along pretty well too. I worked mainly on the background today. I hope to work on the middle ground (the harbor and city) tomorrow.

Work Work Work

I've been a busy schmo lately. On the 3rd, I finished the painting Guardian Angel Arin (small version below). The just yesterday I finished Superdog (after working on it for three days), a pet portrait for a good friend. I've included the progress steps for it below.

Next up, I've got a fantasy book cover for a small press (should be a fun cover, as it seems like a comedy story), and an angel book cover for the same client who commissioned the painting below. :)

The final version is on my site here: Guardian Angel Arin
