My Lair

I was posted these photos for the "Show us your rig" thread at CG Talk and figured I might as well post them here too. This is my bedroom "office."

Hello Laura,
I LOVE YOU office space.

My question is, is your bedroom still functioning as a bedroom? Reason I ask is I was also thinking of doing this... But so many say not to because you should not work in the bedroom. The bedroom Should only be for sleeping.

But I love my space in my BR.

It would NOT keep from sleeping to work there.

Did you keep your bedroom functional as well???

Thanks!

Yes, I was still using the bedroom as a bedroom during the time I had this setup, my bed was on the wall opposite the one with the table and window. (I've since moved to my own place and have a separate room for my studio/office).

I never had a problem using the room for two functions, but I am happy to have a separate space to work from now! =)

Hello Laura,
I am the same person who asked the question concerning your bedroom being functional as an office.

Thanks for your response. I LOVE your new set up. Quite LOVELY. LOVE IT! You have a great dad ;o).

I am moving my office into my bedroom as a trial. I don't like the space where it is now. Currently in the dining area. I get distracted very easily, as most creative folks/artists do.

Me. I am
a stand up comic/actress/writer/photograher person.

I believe my bedroom would allow me to have the solitude I need to focus. I have a 13 year old daughter. She is awesome and amazing. However, I get on a trail of thought and get distracted even if she just goes to the kitchen. (ALL me of course - CRAZY artist).

I also have tried placing this desk near the living room window. I LOVED that !!! In the dining area the window is across the room. I often glance that way. because I LOVE a view when working. The window in the living area Made me even MORE creative!!! Only problem with that set up was it was really open. So when people came to visit, they would feel compelled to snoop and look around. Touch things. I had nothing to hide, yet that set up did not lend to privacy. And again, I was distracted.

So the bedroom allows a GREAT window view, where I can stare/gaze and think. And minimal distractions. My daughter has a lot of friends over, so I can retreat to my little creative world while she is entertaining.

I DO thank you for your input. YOU inspired me to do the whole bedroom/office thing.

I will let ya know how it goes.

Love your work.

Peace,

~ D

You are welcome! I'm so glad the office in the bedroom is working out for you! =)

My one gripe about my current setup is that it's an open dinning room are: so no door. (But then again I don't have any kids to distract me during work...and my husband's home office is the other side of the building.) It does get great sunlight and have a nice view.
