Hey Laura -- This one has quite a different environment than the other covers I've seen you do! I'm curious about what looks like might be a sea serpent?
One bit that immediately looks off to me: the amount of upper body showing for the swimmers (I'm thinking they're not standing on the ground?). If they're all swimming in place, they're a bit too high about the water, I think. The waterline should be to their shoulders or necks while they're swimming in place. Check out some swimming images from "Jaws". ;)
The only other thing that caught my eye: the outward facing teeth of the serpent. Biologically speaking, they should curve inward in order to grasp and inject venom quickly into the prey that they've caught. Of course, the author may have totally gone against that in their story, but hopefully didn't. :)
It actually had not occurred to me... but now that I think about it the swimmers are a bit far "up" for the waterline. (Unless, of course, we say that something else is causing this. *muses to herself* I'll play around with this a bit.)

Yup, a sea serpent or giant "water snake."
